Was This the Last Wimbledon Championships For Roger Federer and Serena Williams?

Roger Federer recently got eliminated from the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Facing Hubery Hurkacz in the quarter-finals, he suffered a humiliating defeat as the Polish player crushed him in straight sets. Interestingly, he even bageled the Swiss Maestro in the last set. The final scoreline of the match was 3-6, 6(4)-7(7), 0-6.

Roger Federer probably missed his last chance of winning a Grand Slam as he lost in the quarters of the Wimbledon Championships 2021. This might even prove to be the last Wimbledon for him as he’ll be 40 next month.

There are clouds of uncertainty that are currently looming over the future of the World No.8 player. Many believe that this was the last time he stepped his feet on the Centre Court. There are even high chances that if he doesn’t play well at the US Open 2021, he might even announce his retirement from the sport later this year. However, nothing has is confirmed as of now.

Even though there is not a formal announcement from Federer’s team and he seems fit, fans might not see him play on grass ever again. It’ll be intriguing to see if he continues to remain this fit next year as well or not.

Like Roger Federer, it might be the last time when fans saw Serena Williams at the Wimbledon Championships

The Wimbledon Championships 2021 proved to be a big nightmare for Serena Williams as she injured herself in her very first match at the Grand Slam. As a result, she withdrew from the tournament without finishing even a single set.

The tennis queen will also be 40 this year and in such a situation, there are doubts over her fitness. Even though she is playing at the US Open 2021, it looks highly unlikely that she’ll be able to continue playing in the singles category by the time of the next Wimbledon Championships.

Apart from this, she has an Achilles injury from which she hasn’t recovered completely. Thus, just like Federer, it could have been the last time when the fans witnessed her in the whites.

Fans surely don’t want both Roger Federer and Serena Williams to retire from the sport. They hope that they’ll be back next year as they believe that both of them can win a Slam even after turning 40.
