Coleen Rooney’s infamous private Instagram account, which she used to find out who was selling stories about her, appears to have been revealed by Abbey Clancy.

Anyone following the continued fallout between Coleen and Rebekah Vardy will know that back in 2019, Coleen, the wife of Wayne Rooney, accused the Instagram account of Rebekah, the wife of Jamie Vardy, of leaking stories to the press from her private page.

Now, it seems that Abbey – the wife of former footballer Peter Crouch – has revealed what handle Coleen was operating under.

The 35-year-old shared an Instagram she was tagged in to her own story on Thursday, showing a cup emblazoned with the logo of Peter’s show Crouchy’s Year-Late Euros: Live.

‘Coleen03’ wrote: ‘Look where I am @AbbeyClancy’, with the model adding her own caption reading: ‘It’s coming home @Coleen03.’

The profile picture for Coleen03 was a glamorous picture of the 35-year-old WAG, rather than the family picture she has on her verified account, @coleen_rooney.

While Coleen’s main account has 889,000 followers, her apparent alt account – which you need permission to follow – has just 396 followers, including Abbey and Danielle Lloyd.

However, the alt account has posted way more – 4,133 posts to official Coleen’s 482 – and follows 721 people rather than the 192 followed by @coleen_rooney.

The account appears to be the one which kickstarted the Wagatha Christie war between Coleen and Rebekah, 39, which is now expected to go to full trial.

On Wednesday, October 9, 2019, Coleen shared a statement to Instagram and Twitter, alleging that her fellow WAG’s account was responsible for leaking fake stories to the press.

In a rather genius plot, Coleen revealed that she had been sharing fake stories to her own Instagram stories – like Cheshire home being flooded during Storm Lorenzo, her considering the gender selection of her next child, and that she was thinking about a return to television – after suspecting that one of her followers was leaking tales from her private account to the press.

Captioning her statement: ‘This has been a burden in my life for a few years now and finally I have got to the bottom of it……’, Coleen wrote: ‘For a few years now someone I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.

‘There has been so much information given to them about me, my friends and my family – all without my permission or knowledge. After a long time of trying to figure out who it could be, for various reasons, I had a suspicion.

‘To try and prove this, I came up with an idea. I blocked everyone from viewing my Instagram stories except ONE account. (Those on my private account must have been wondering why I haven’t had stories on there for a while.)

‘Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories if they made their way into the Sun newspaper. And you know what, they did! The story about gender selection in Mexico, the story about returning to TV and then the latest story about the basement flooding in my new house.

‘It’s been tough keeping it to myself and not making any comment at all, especially when the stories have been leaked, however I had to. Now I know for certain which account/individual it’s come from.

‘I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them. It’s…… Rebekah Vardy’s account.’

More: Coleen Rooney

Rebekah vehemently denied that she was responsible, and in June last year, she filed a defamation lawsuit against Coleen.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! won a partial victory earlier this week, as the High Court agreed to throw out part of Coleen’s defence, including allegations that Rebekah showed ‘publicity-seeking behaviour’ when sitting behind her in someone else’s seat at the Euros 2016, and that she was was leaking details of the libel case itself to The Sun.

Metro.co.uk has contacted Rooney’s rep for comment.
