David Benavidez Eyeing a ‘Huge’ Fight With Canelo Alvarez After Jermall Charlo

Canelo Alvarez is the predominant face of modern-day boxing. Over the course of his enigmatic boxing run, Alvarez has stormed up to become the hotshot of the game. Every boxing prodigy and veteran around his weight class wants to fight him once. This is because a tussle against Canelo brings in countless teachings that help boxers grow at certain points in their careers.

However, Alvarez is currently on his pursuit to become the undisputed super-middleweight champ and before that, he won’t look to fight anyone not named Caleb Plant.

Considering this situation, Benavidez has decided to fight Jermall Charlo for his WBC middleweight strap. In a recent interview with Little Giant Boxing, he said, “This year, it would be Charlo [that I would want]. That’s a fight I want. Because Canelo, I know he’s got his own thing [with unifying the super middleweight division].”

“Can you imagine if I get past Charlo and stop him, me and Canelo would be huge. It would be big. I know what I bring to the table. I know what I’m capable of.” (h/t Boxing Scene)
