‘I’m Undefeated Then’- Max Holloway Reacts to Conor McGregor’s Bizarre Claim Ahead of UFC 264

Conor McGregor will step inside the octagon for a highly anticipated trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264. Ahead of this intriguing clash, ‘Notorious’ sat down with the well-known sports news reporter, Stephen A. Smith.

In their interview, McGregor made some interesting comments, on which the #1 UFC featherweight contender, Max Holloway, shared his reaction.

Watching someone like McGregor knock people out was what prompted Smith to consider becoming an MMA fan. When Smith shared this in their interview, McGregor made some eccentric comments.

‘Mystic Mac’ said, “My record in mixed martial arts competition is 19 wins and one loss. I only count knockouts. Dustin’s record is 13 wins, two losses.

“The only thing that’s final in this business is knockout. All the other s***, the decisions, the taps, all that sh*t means nothing to me. I am coming to take a man’s head off”.

After the ESPN MMA posted these quotes on their official Twitter handle, Max Holloway, who has fought both McGregor and Poirier, had an interesting reply.

Holloway has a spectacular professional MMA record of 22-6-0 (10 T/KO and 2 Submissions). Out of his six losses, ‘Blessed’ has never lost via T/KO; hence, the above-mentioned comment.

Is Max Holloway the best boxer in the UFC?

Holloway uses his Muay Thai skills to dominate his opponents inside the octagon. He has a 46% significant strike accuracy and 60% significant strike defense. 

‘Blessed’ holds the record for the most significant strikes landed in UFC history. He has landed a total no. of 2618 significant strikes in his UFC career to this day. Moreover, Holloway also holds the record for most total strikes landed, which is 2805. 

All the above statistics prove that Holloway is one of the best stand-up fighters in the UFC. Hence, it is safe to say that he is also one of the best boxers in the UFC. Holloway proved that in his last fight against Calvin Kattar, where he landed a total no. of 447 strikes.
