“There Will Be a Nice Mess”: Ferrari Boss Binotto Predicts Turmoil at the British GP

The first-ever Formula One sprint qualifying awaits us at the upcoming British Grand Prix: it may make things exciting for fans, but not for Ferrari’s Team Principal, Mattia Binotto.

The Italian boss has predicted the session will cause chaos, as the new tire specification for the Silverstone circuit can be a curveball for most teams. Hence, Binotto envisions the race to be full of turmoil.

Ferrari boss, Binotto foresees a huge disturbance at Silverstone

As quoted from SpeedWeek, the Scuderia boss said, “We mustn’t forget that a new tire specification is also being introduced at Silverstone. We tried them out in training for the Austrian GP.

“Now we will have the starting position that we can only train with the new tires on Friday morning before qualification begins.

“New tires, new processes, hardly any experience with these rollers. I could imagine that there will be a nice mess if people don’t have time to tweak the vote,” Binotto concluded. (Translated from German via Google)

Carlos Sainz sees this opportunity to enjoy himself

Contrary to Binotto, Sainz is well aware of the sprint sessions possess over them. However, the Spaniard is looking forward to the event as it can provide with a lot of fun; but knows the track at Silverstone isn’t meant for overtaking, which could be one of the hurdles they will have to overcome.

He said, “We don’t have a pit stop, so strategically there is little you can do to advance. But only 17 laps should give us the opportunity to have a little fun. Unfortunately, Silverstone is not an overtaking-friendly track.”

Both, Sainz and Charles Leclerc have brought their A-game to most of the quali sessions, this season. The duo seems confident that they can do the same for the Maranello-based team for the upcoming race weekend as well, and aim to bag some crucial points for the team’s championship.
