Gervonta Davis Hits Back at Eddie Hearn for Asking Him to Fight Teofimo Lopez and Ryan Garcia

Gervonta Davis appears to be at the early prime of his career, relishing belts at three divisions and an unbeaten record of 25-0, in which 24 has come via stoppage.

However, he is untested against several lightweight champions and Matchroom Kingpin Eddie Hearn wants those fights to happen.

Meanwhile, ‘Tank’ doesn’t seem pleased with Hearn’s desire. He has turned to social media and has demeaned the value of possible showdowns against Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, or Devin Haney.

Reflecting something similar to his mentor Floyd Mayweather’s comments, Gervonta Davis might have planned to keep all his fights within PBC and Mayweather Promotions. But Eddie Hearn’s wish hasn’t changed.

Hearn and Davis had a back and forth in social media, where Hearn showed respect towards ‘Tank’. He praised the Baltimore native’s effort and success in the professional run.

But Eddie Hearn put the names of ‘KingRY, ‘Take Over’, and ‘The Deam’ again in that conversation, just to tease the value of these fighters against Davis.

Interestingly, Eddie Hearn only promotes Devin Haney from all three names. However, he still pitched Golden Boy prodigy Ryan Garcia and Teofimo Lopez, who is signed to Top Rank Promotions. So, Hearn’s idea mirrors boxing values, rather than just money-making spills.

The 135 lbs roster has several big names who can give a tough time to Gervonta Davis. However, Davis’ titles in the 130 lbs, 135 lbs, and 140 lbs, expand his opportunities beyond the lightweight big-shots.

Starting from Josh Taylor to Regis Prograis, several more names have popped up to be viable contenders to Davis. Hence, it’s tough to predict the next move of Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

What’s next for Gervonta Davis?

Following a win against Mario Barrios, Davis can select his opponent from a long list. Rolando Romero, another unbeaten prodigy from the Mayweather Promotions, has also called out ‘Tank’. Meanwhile, WBC Interim 135 lbs champion Ryan Garcia is calling out Davis yet again.

Following Garcia’s win against Luke Campbell in January, boxing fans expected him to face Davis. ‘KingRy’ and ‘Tank’ also verbally agreed to the offer.

But Garcia went ahead to advertise a possible showdown against Manny Pacquiao, which ultimately didn’t materialize. So, Gervonta Davis jumped to a higher weight class to grab the WBA (Regular) belt.

As of now, we can expect him to accept another fight this year. Or else, Davis might choose to have an early 2022 fight.
