Following Novak Djokovic’s Wimbledon Victory, Roger Federer Drops to 41st position in the Race to Turin

The uninterrupted glory run of Novak Djokovic, which fetched him the 20th Grand Slam silverware of his career, taking him level with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal’s haul of titles, has tipped the balance and shaken up the order in the race for Turin.

In the process of lifting his sixth career Wimbledon trophy, the Serbian, ranked No.1 in singles, is now leading the race to feature in the year-end ATP Finals.

Roger Federer seems out of contention for place in the ATP Finals

The most notable absentee from the Top-10 in the race is Roger Federer, who is languishing at No.41 and appears out of contention for a place in the Finals draw.

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas, who had his nose in front at the end of his runner-up finish at Roland-Garros, has now dropped to second.

However, that doesn’t dim his chances of reaching the main draw of the high-stakes, year-end finals in Turin.

World No.9 Matteo Berrettini, who couldn’t upstage the defending champion in his maiden Grand Slam final at All England, has moved four places in the race to be up at No.3.

The Italian is eyeing his maiden appearance at the year-end Finals in his homeland.

Russian Andrey Rublev, who is currently sitting 7th in singles, has dropped once place in the race to be at No.4.

Rublev, who won his fourth straight ATP 500 title from last year at Rotterdam, hasn’t been minting it rich with regard to his trophy count ever since.

Rafael Nadal has dropped 2 places to be at No.7 in the Turin race

His compatriot and World No.2 Daniil Medvedev is at No.6 in the race, while German Alexander Zverev, who is at No.6 in the rankings, has also dropped one place in the race to be at No.5.

Rafael Nadal, who skipped the Wimbledon Championships after his crushing semifinal exit at Roland-Garros, has also lost two places in the race to fall at No.7.

Current World No.19 Hubert Hurkacz, who took down Federer at Wimbledon to reach his maiden Grand Slam semifinal, has gained three places to be up at No.8 in the race.

A surprise entry at 10th in the race is Canadian Denis Shapovalov, who on the weight of his run to the semifinals at Wimbledon has moved 10 places, with a genuine shot at reaching the Turin draw.

However, and funnily enough, the Swiss has moved 50 places to rise to 41 in the Finals race.

Reigning US Open champion Dominic Thiem, who had been struggling for form before being forced into the sidelines with a wrist injury, has dropped two places to be at No.34 in the race.

Miami runner-up Jannik Sinner has dropped a place to be at 11th in the Turin race, while Hungarian Marton Fucsovics, who scripted history at Wimbledon by reaching the quarterfinals, has moved 13 places to be at the 18th spot in the race.
