Twitter Reacts as Gilbert Burns Dominates Stephen Thompson at UFC 264
Stephen Thompson and Gilbert Burns fought in the co-main at UFC 264 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas where Gilbert Burns grabbed victory against ‘Wonderboy’ via unanimous decision after three rounds.
Twitter went crazy about it!
Clearly, Stephen was the fan favorite going into this fight and the result of the fight reflected the displeasure from the crowd. After Gilbert won the fight, the crowd profusely booed him, he then, later on, challenged several other fighters stating “anyone can get this”.

At the beginning of the first round, both men are standing in a much more orthodox stance. Gilbert is applying a very much more boxing-centric approach in his movements and stance where both the athletes are maintaining some distance before engaging. Wonderboy could not deliver much damage throughout the first round to the opponent, towards the end of the round, Thompson breaks free and clips Burns with a hook.
Thompson managed to get some head kicks to the former lightweight champion, but it did not seem to affect Burns so much.

Heading into the second round Gilbert is more confident where he lands a good low kick and then switches into a double-leg takedown towards the end of the second round. Thompson is again up against the fence and Burns lands some left hands in a short time. Thompson now throwing back from that position and the round ends with both of me throwing short hooks.
Gilbert Burns with a solid win tonight. Wonderboy is an impossibly difficult puzzle to solve and he solved it.

In the closing seconds of round 3, Thompson is trapped at the corner of the fence, fierce punches from Burns but several of them are to the back of the head. With multiple swift punches, the referee chose to ignore it, and the final horn sounds!
