**Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 5 of Loki.**

The Marvel series Loki is chock-a-block with Easter eggs on Disney Plus, however, episode five delivered a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Chris Hemsworth cameo.

In the most recent episode, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is greeted in The Void by Classic Loki (Richard E Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei) and Alligator Loki.

After he is pruned by Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) at the TVA (Time Variance Authority), Loki discovers that everything that is eliminated by the organisation isn’t destroyed, but instead sent to a wasteland at the end of time.

It’s here that Loki meets several other versions of himself, in addition to coming across artefacts including the Thanos Copter, Roxxiwine and even a frog version of Thor, known as Throg.

It’s here that we catch a glimpse of Throg trying to break out of a jar, which is a beloved comic character.

Director Kate Herron recently Throg was actually voiced by Chris.

‘We recorded Chris Hemsworth for that, by the way,’ Herron told For All Nerds.

‘His voice going “Ahhh!” That’s a whole new recording. Not recycled. He recorded that.’

The cameo ties into the episode’s title Journey into Mystery, which is based on the 1962 comic that first introduced Thor’s character.

Writer and producer Eric Martin said that they originally had Loki beaten up by Throg before they changed their mind.

‘We actually shot a scene for the Time Theater in Ep 1 of Loki getting pummeled by Frog Thor, but had to cut it to keep things moving,’ he wrote on Twitter.

‘It’s too bad, because Tom was funny as hell.’

That wasn’t the only Easter egg present in the episode

While a tower that looks like Stark Tower can be seen in The Void, it’s actually Qeng Tower, as in the Marvel comics, Tony Stark sells the old Avengers tower to Qeng Enterprises.

In episode 5 of @LokiOfficial, there’s a fun Easter egg lurking in the background: the infamous arcade game, Polybius. Have you heard the urban legend? [1/7]#Loki #LokiSpoilers pic.twitter.com/jUYCZnnWNi

Fans also spotted Roxxiwine. When Loki first met Sylvie, he found her hiding out at Roxxcart Mall during a future apocalypse.

The latest episode of Loki also feeds into a fascinating legend about an arcade machine called Polybius, which is shown behind Classic Loki in the Lokis’ lair.

According to urban legend, the 1980s game was potentially created as a military tech experiment. It was supposedly so addictive that it would cause fights to break out and there are rumours kids would get amnesia after playing and black-coated men would collect records from the machine.

The Loki series finale airs on Disney Plus this Wednesday (14 July).
