Frasier is returning to television in a fresh remake, and Kelsey Grammer, who played radio psychiatrist Dr Crane, has offered some hints about what’s in store.

The sitcom ran for 11 seasons before ending in 2004 and it has remained extremely popular amongst fans.

Kelsey is the person who is behind the reboot, and he has said he hopes most of the original cast will return.

In a recent interview, Kelsey revealed that his character is going to be dealing with some changes.

While we last saw Kelsey’s character leaving Seattle for Chicago, it sounds like he’ll be moving again.

‘Frasier’s gonna change cities again,’ Kelsey said in an interview with New York’s NBC 4.

‘He thinks he’s gonna go off and do one thing, and sure enough, his life takes him in another direction and he ends up rich beyond his dreams.’

John Mahoney, who played Frasier’s father Martin, died in 2018 at 77 and he will be honoured in some way in the show’s return.

While Kelsey would love for the cast to return, he said if it doesn’t work out with their schedules the new story can be ‘told with or without them’.

‘We think we’re going to get most of the actors back, I’m certainly hopeful that we will, and I’m fairly confident that they’ll come back,’ he told Collider.

‘We have a story to tell – that can actually be told with or without them, honestly – but I want them back because that’s what I always dreamed of. I thought we should explore all their lives in their third act, and so that is my hope.’

Kelsey told EW that the reboot would be more like a ‘third act’ for Fraiser’ rather than trying to pick it up ‘right where they were’.

‘We’re just exploring what that might be. It could be [set] in Chicago — he left for Chicago before in the last episode of Frasier – and there seems to be some appetite for it,’ he said.

The actor also answered the question of whether Frasier would still be hosting the radio show he hosted in the previous show.

‘He’s passed the radio show. He might be an art dealer he might be a professor. We don’t know yet,’ he said.

The show is set to be rebooted on streaming service Paramount+.
