The Witcher 3 for PS5 & Xbox Series X to include new Netflix DLC

The Netflix DLC is not only free, but it’ll be available on every version of the game (pic: CD Projekt)

Exact details are unknown, but The Witcher 3’s PS5 and Xbox Series X update will come with new items inspired by the Netflix show.

Netflix’s The Witcher may be based more on the books than the games, but that doesn’t mean Netflix and CD Projekt can’t partake in a little cross promotion for the upcoming Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Announced last year, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition is now scheduled to launch this autumn for the newer consoles, as well as PC. CD Projekt didn’t have a new trailer to share, but it did show off the new cover art.

Not only that, but it also confirmed that this version will include free DLC inspired by the Netflix show. Specifically, it describes the DLC as extra items, but what precisely these items are is unknown.

Given the choice of words, you shouldn’t expect anything beyond simple cosmetics. One likely addition is a new skin for Geralt, that will make him resemble his Netflix actor Henry Cavill. Or at the very least, a set of armour based on what he wears in the show.

Déjà vu? 🤔

As a reminder, the new version of the game will be a free upgrade for anyone who purchased the original, so PlayStation 4 owners can get the PlayStation 5 version, and Xbox One owners can get the Xbox Series X/S version at no extra cost.

And if you can’t, or simply don’t want to, upgrade you’ll be pleased to know that the new Netflix DLC will be available for every platform. That’s even including the Nintendo Switch version.

The only other known details about the next gen versions are that they will support ray-tracing and feature faster loading times. The collection will also include the Hearts Of Stone and Blood And Wine expansions.

While it currently lacks a specific release date, it wouldn’t be surprising if the new version launched in proximity to Season 2 of the Netflix show, which is scheduled to premiere on December 17.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition releases for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC later this year.
