WWE superstar Bronson Reed has blasted ‘racist’ sports fans and insisted they could learn a lot from the world of wrestling.

The Samoan Australian star, who recently held the North American Championship on the black and gold brand, has hit out with a defiant response after England footballers Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Buyako Saka were subjected to vile racist abuse following last night’s Euro 2020 final.

He tweeting: ‘Other sports fans should take a page out of what I know as the majority of wrestling fans who over the years have become much more progressive and wonderful to perform for.

‘It’s 2021, if you have a racist bone in your body … I’ll kindly break it for you.’

Last summer, Reed revealed he was called a racial slur by another man while he was out for a walk with his wife Paige.

He said at the time: ‘Just out for my daily walk with my wife and a car of young white males speeds by and one yells “YOU FAT N____” … This needs to not happen people.

Other sports fans should take a page out of what I know as the majority of wrestling fans who over the years have become much more progressive and wonderful to perform for.

‘I want everyone to know that the disgusting statement that was yelled at me today was only a sliver of what I am seeing a lot of my African American brothers and sisters going through.

‘I hope we can all invoke change for the good. (sic)’

Later the same day, the star made a comeback on NXT as he lost to Cameron Grimes and was attacked by Cameron Grimes.

He tweeted: ‘In light of everything that happened yesterday I didn’t feel right tweeting about my return to @WWENXT.

‘I want y’all to know I’m back and ready to fight the good fight. I am a superstar that is FOR EVERYONE. I represent the minority and make sure we are heard by the majority!’

Meanwhile, Reed has since paid tribute to his wife for the support she showed for him as he worked his way up the wrestling ladder – particularly during times he was doubting his own path.

He exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘With how wrestling is, sometimes you doubt yourself and you get people that also doubt you.

‘That’s nothing against some of my family members or friends that say, “Hey maybe it’s time to pack it in, you’re getting close to 30. Maybe don’t do this!”

‘My wife was always someone that stood by my side and encouraged me to keep chasing the dream. She sort of took the reigns back home when I had to travel to the UK or Japan, all these places.’
