“How Is Your Tennis”: Novak Djokovic Chats With The Duchess of Cambridge After His Wimbledon Championships 2021 Win

Novak Djokovic claimed his sixth Wimbledon Championship this year, and the Duchess of Cambridge presented him with the trophy. The tradition of the British Royal family being present at the Wimbledon final has been going on for years. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, even had a chat with the men’s singles winner.

Djokovic beat Matteo Berrettini of Italy in four sets and won his 20th Grand Slam. The Serb will mostly be heading for the Tokyo Olympic Games beginning later this month.

Novak Djokovic chats with Kate Middleton after his win

The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton presents the winners’ trophy at the Wimbledon Championships. The Duchess had initially come in contact with an individual who tested positive for the coronavirus. However, she later tested negative, after a period of self-isolation and was able to present the trophy to the winners.

Djokovic had a short chat with Kate Middleton, as he entered the members’ section at the All England Club. The two of them spoke about how important it is to bring back Wimbledon on the tour. As a result of their talk, the Duchess also opened up about her own tennis game.

“It was especially hard this year because you haven’t had family here, limited team and the bubbles,” said Kate Middleton as she asked him a few questions.

“Yes, you try to make the most of it but I think we are all grateful here today to be able to play and to be able play the biggest tournament in the world,” Djokovic replied with diplomacy in his tone.

Djokovic even joked with the Duchess of Cambridge and asked her about her tennis skills. “How is your tennis?” asked Djokovic jokingly. Kate Middleton was humble enough to oblige the player with her response. “Every time we put a tennis kit on, the kids are there wanting to join in which is really great,” said the Duchess.

The Serb will be chasing history this year, as he is aiming for a Calendar Grand Slam. If he wins his fourth Grand Slam title of the year at the US Open, he will achieve this. He can also complete a Golden Calendar Grand Slam, in case he wins the Olympic Gold medal in Tokyo.
