WHATSAPP is about to add its Snapchat-style ‘View Once’ feature.

The new tool will let you send self-destructing photos and videos that vanish after being seen.

It’s a long-requested feature that will finally be making its way to iPhone and Android.

There’s no firm date on when it will land, but there’s a cheeky way to get it early.

According to expert insider blog WABetaInfo, the new feature is about to arrive in the WhatsApp Beta.

That’s a test version of WhatsApp that anyone can sign up to, letting you trial new WhatsApp features.

Beta tests give WhatsApp a chance to trial new features before they go live to the world.

It’s an easy way to root out bugs, or uncover whether a feature is actually doing its intended job.

The blog says that the View Once feature is about to land for both iPhone and Android WhatsApp beta tests.

Sadly, unlike Snapchat, WhatsApp won’t be alerting users if someone screenshots the disappearing message.

But it still adds a bonus layer of security that doesn’t currently exist in WhatsApp.

To send one, you’ll need to update to the latest WhatsApp beta and then tap the ‘1’ icon when sharing a photo or video.

How to get WhatsApp beta

To download WhatsApp beta for your smartphone you need to go to Google Play on your Android and search for WhatsApp.

Scroll down the page until you see “Become a Beta Tester”.

Tap the “I’m In” button and then click “Join” to confirm.

Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.

Joining the WhatsApp beta on iPhone is more difficult, and has limited capacity.
