Huge iPhone update is about to arrive – but NOT if you have one of these models

IF YOU have an iPhone that’s older than the iPhone X you’ll miss out on some of the new iOS 15 features.

Apple announced the new software back in June but it won’t be coming out until Autumn time.

The iOS 15 software is only compatible with the iPhone 6S and later but if your iPhone doesn’t have a A12 processor you also won’t be able to access certain features.

The only iPhones that can make use of almost all of iOS 15’s features are the iPhone XS or older.

That’s because these iPhones contain the newer A12 processor.

It’s important to note that only the iPhone 12 Series devices can make use of the iOS 15 5G features.

The 5G features will include higher quality video streaming, faster Photo Sync and iCloud Backup and quicker downloads.

The iPhone 6S, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X and iPhone SE miss out on a range of iOS 15 features because of their older processing chips.

The iPhone 6s and 6s Plus won’t get access to the new spatial audio feature when listening to music via AirPods Pro and AirPods Pro Max, that’s a feature Apple has been raving about.

If you’re not well versed in audio terms you might not have heard of Dolby Atmos or ‘spatial audio’.

Dolby Atmos is technology that allows you to listen to music in a new ‘spatial way’ by isolating each voice, instrument and any other sounds.

Usually when you listen to songs over a streaming service, they’re compressed.

This means some of the original audio quality is missing, for the sake of saving space on your phone – or making tracks easier to stream over the internet.

Users of iPhones 7 to X won’t get access to spatial audio during FaceTime calls.

Older iPhone users also won’t be able to access the iOS 15 ability to blur your background on FaceTime by using portrait mode.

They’ll also miss out on features like animated backgrounds in the Weather app, a detailed city Maps experience, almost all the new Wallet app features and immersive walking directions.

In other news, nine apps have had to be removed from the Google Play Store after they were caught stealing Facebook passwords.

Facebook is facing backlash in the US over plans to create a version of Instagram for children under 13.

And, influencers who don’t clearly state if they’ve edited photos which are advertisements could be fined or imprisoned in Norway due to a new law.
