‘Needs the Ball to Be Successful’: Reggie Miller Feels LeBron James Would Fit Better With CJ McCollum Instead of Damian Lillard

Dream trade scenarios are a must before the offseason graces us with its presence. And right now, the biggest one is between the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers, where the latter gets Damian Lillard but the Lakers will have to give the best offer they have for Dame and Anthony Davis springs to mind. However, unlike most, Reggie Miller seems to think Lillard is not a good fit next to LeBron James.

LeBron James and Damian Lillard, not a perfect fit?

Ever since Damian Lillard dropped a cryptic message on Instagram that had everyone question his future with the Blazers, rumors have started to make rounds about possible destinations for the superstar. Although many teams would be interested to bring him in, the Lakers have become the top candidates.

However, the problem lies with who will they offer in exchange for one of the best point guards in the league? Anyone other than Anthony Davis might not even be considered. So, when Reggie Miller was asked if he would give this trade a green light, he blatantly refused.

“Absolutely not,” said Miller. “As much as I love Damian Lillard, Lillard has to have the balls in his hands to be successful. That’s what made him great. Isolation one-on-one, high pick-and-roll player. For Lebron, what he’s done throughout his career, needs the ball to be successful. I don’t think they would play well off one another.”

Reggie Miller suggests another option: CJ McCollum

There are many other reasons to keep Anthony Davis over Lillard. AD is a much better defender and because he has already won a championship with the franchise, his chemistry with Bron is off the charts. This is something that is vital for any player they add to their roster. Also, AD’s size and skill help him dominate on another level, trading a big man for a 6’2″ PG is risky business.

So, if not Dame, who should the Lakers shift their focus to? Reggie Miller stated, “CJ McCollum would be great on the Lakers with LeBron.” He even said that Dennis Schroder and Kyle Kuzma would be the perfect trade for McCollum.

Do you think the purple and gold will consider this? Or will they continue to bring in the best player, and focus on making the puzzle fit later?
