Hilary Duff has shared a series of intimate and powerful photos of her in labour, as she celebrated the birth day of her daughter Mae James Bair.
The Younger star welcomed her second daughter with husband Matthew Koma in March, with the pair already sharing two-year-old Banks, while Hilary also has nine-year-old son Luca from her marriage to Mike Comrie.
Deciding to share beautiful moments from the day, a blue-haired Hilary – who announced her pregnancy in October – could be seen preparing to give birth alongside her husband as well as her co-star, friend and doula, Molly Bernard.
In one image, the star was seen sitting on an exercise ball as she closed her eyes, revealing she had to employ the wonders of puppy training pads after her waters broke.
The raw moments shared with followers also showed Hilary holding onto a piece of fabric flung over the bannister of her bed as Molly applied a compress to her lower back.
Hilary wrote: ‘Feeling ready to share some photos of Mae Mae’s birth day!!!

‘For me to feel safe during birth and get to where I need to go, it’s crucial to have the right support system. The perfect amount of space, counter-pressure, humor, stillness and people that support my power.
‘My hubby is the most calm anchor in the room when I feel like climbing the walls and my little Molly is an extraordinary doula who sat with me when I needed to be still and quiet. She quite enjoyed the fact that I was sitting on doggy puddle pads as my water had broken hours before 🤣. [sic]’
Hilary continued: ‘My own mama was there to make all the snacks and watch with a big nervous smile as her baby brings her a new grandbaby earthside.

‘The help that I have to support my other children while I am not able is maybe the most comforting thought of all. All hands on deck. Forever lol.’
Highlighting the power of giving birth, the star went on: ‘This is hard work…every way a woman brings a baby in is.
‘From getting pregnant, to c-sections, hospital or home births, the breast feeding journey (oy vey that one gets me every time) and raising these little beings responsibly to be stand up, confidant, kind citizens of the world. It’s completely consuming.
‘A tedious, magical, miraculous adventure…So cheers almighty mothers. You make mountains move daily ♥️ [sic].’
Mandy Moore supported the former Disney star as she reacted: ‘Love this and you!! Wowowow,’ while her Younger co-star Sutton Foster wrote: ‘Love you so.’
Molly also chimed in the comments: ‘I LOVE THIS SO, SO MUCH.’
The actor, who also serves as godmother to Hilary’s older daughter Banks, had previously recalled being on hand to help her friend bring new life into the world.
She wrote on Instagram following Mae’s birth: ‘I’m not exactly sure how to put into words the beauty of watching and championing the ever fierce @hilaryduff give birth to Baby Mae.
‘I have never witnessed any event that is simultaneously expansive and so finite, so personal. The grace that both Hilary and Matthew have is truly limitless.’

‘It is no small thing to bring a child into this world, and I am basking in amazement at the strength of my friend. Her patience, ferocity, groundedness, clarity and love.’
