Warning: major spoilers ahead for Loki episode 6.

Episode 6 of Loki was always going to make our heads spin. But boy, did this Marvel series finale throw not one, but a multiverse of spanners in the works.

Having made it through the Void in episode five, in the final episode of the Disney Plus MCU show, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) make their way to a mysterious citadel, where the person pulling the strings at the TVA (Time Variance Authority) is located.

After entering the building and being greeted by a creepily chirpy Miss Minutes, they encounter a man known as ‘He Who Remains’, who says that he has been known by many names in his time, including ‘conqueror’. Everybody, say hello to Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors).

It was already confirmed that Kang, a time-travelling entity, was going to appear in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that he showed up a little bit early.

Sylvie tries several times to kill Kang, but to no avail, as he easily swerves every swing of her sword.

So who is Kang the Conqueror and what does the ending of Loki mean?

Who is Kang the Conqueror?

In the Marvel comics, Kang the Conqueror is a villain who frequently goes up against the Avengers.

Harnessing technology from the future, Kang – who is simply a human – has the ability travel through time, in addition to having the augmented strength to square up to the mightiest heroes.

In Loki, Kang doesn’t actually introduce himself to Loki and Sylvie by his actual name, preferring to maintain his elusive aura.

He explains to them that before he formed the TVA, he hailed from the 31st century, where he encountered several of his own variants travelling through the multiverse.

While he and several of his variants worked alongside each other, others were hellbent on conquering the universe, resulting in a multiversal war.

Kang therefore decided to form the TVA and preserve the sacred timeline to keep complete and utter destruction at bay.

Before Sylvie drives her dagger through Kang’s heart, he tells her and Loki that if he is killed, infinite versions of himself who are far more evil may take his place.

As the TVA witnesses a multiverse of madness seemingly being created as a result of Loki and Sylvie’s actions, has Kang’s warning come to pass?

Loki and Sylvie’s romance is official

In previous episodes of Loki, a romance between Loki and Sylvie was implied, but never officially confirmed.

Several fans found the idea of Loki and Sylvie getting together peculiar, considering they are different versions of the same character and a relationship between them would therefore be selfcest.

Nonetheless, it turns out that the connection between the pair was indeed of the romantic nature, as Loki and Sylvie share a kiss after going at each other’s throats in a deadly fight.

The duo go head-to-head after Sylvie expresses her wish to kill Kang, while Loki wishes to explore the idea of taking up his offer of taking his place as the head of the TVA.

While Sylvie banishes Loki back to the TVA before killing Kang, many Marvel fans will undoubtedly be hoping that we’ll see a Loki and Sylvie reunion at some point in future.

Where has Ravonna Renslayer gone?

Ravonna is committed to continuing the work of the TVA, even after Loki and Sylvie’s discovery that the three Time-Keepers are just androids.

In the Marvel comics, Ravonna has a close connection with Kang.

Therefore, prior to the finale, it seemed likely that it would be revealed that she was in cahoots with him the whole time.

Where is Ravonna off to next? (Marvel Studios/Disney Plus)

While the question of how much Ravonna knows is left unanswered, episode six sees her leave the TVA through a TemPad portal, telling Mobius M Mobius (Owen Wilson) that she’s going in search of ‘free will’.

Before that, Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) discovers that Ravonna had a past life on Earth, where she worked as a teacher in Ohio in the year 2018.

So will Ravonna find Kang either in season two of Loki or even in the next Ant-Man film?

Why does Mobius no longer remember who Loki is?

Fans were elated last week when it was revealed that Mobius had survived his pruning and had landed in the Void with Loki.

However, this week they were left devastated when, after Loki is transported back to the TVA by Sylvie, it’s revealed that neither Mobius nor Hunter B-15 remember who Loki is.

As Loki realises that Mobius doesn’t remember their past interactions, he looks around the TVA to discover that the large statues of the Time-Keepers have now been replaced with effigies of Kang.

Has Kang purposely eliminated Loki from everyone’s memories? Will we ever get to see Loki and Mobius having a jolly time on a jetski together?

Does the Loki finale have a post-credits scene?

While WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier both had post-credits scenes, Loki’s is a little different.

Midway through the credits of the series finale, an extremely brief clip shows a close-up of a case file for Loki Laufeyson.

A stamp on the report provides Loki fans with an important announcement – that the Marvel series is officially returning for season two.

While some may be disappointed not to have seen more footage from the show, the fact that Loki season two has already been confirmed will no doubt be a massive source of excitement.

With so many cliffhangers to address, Loki season two is surely going to be one hell of a ride through time.

Loki is available to watch on Disney Plus.
