“Still Angry” – Stefanos Tsitsipas Gives Honest Admission on Wimbledon Championships 2021 Failure

Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas had a terrible summer in England. The World No.4 lost to Frances Tiafoe in the first-round at the All England Club, generating the tournament’s first upset. The Greek national will now contest at the Hamburg Open in Germany the number one seed.

Stefanos has still not been able to forget his horrendous performance at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. He will be looking to redeem himself at the German Open, before leaving for the Tokyo Olympics.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is unable to forget his Wimbledon defeat

Tsitsipas was one of the few players at the Wimbledon Championships who could have challenged Novak Djokovic to the title. He had played some excellent tennis last month; he made it to the French Open final, eventually losing to Djokovic.

However, the number three seed at SW19 could not live up to his expectations, and he lost to American wonder boy, Frances Tiafoe, in straight sets.

I try to get the most out of every game. This match against Tiafoe is complicated. I am still very angry with what happened. I came to Wimbledon with the idea of wanting to play a good role, to do a very different result from previous years, but it didn’t work,” said Tsitsipas in an interview before the Hamburg Open.

The Greek national could not find any form of success at the grass-court event, consequently losing in the men’s doubles event as well.

Things not looking good for Tsitsipas in the past couple of months

Stefanos played the French Open final with great determination and courage. He won the first two sets against Novak Djokovic but eventually lost to the in-form Serb. Unfortunately, Stefanos lost his grandmother five minutes before the commencement of his final at Roland Garros; however, he played the match despite the news and gave it his all.

Stefanos surely had a poor run at the Wimbledon Championships, and he has not started off very well at the Hamburg Open either. He has already lost his men’s doubles first-round match along with his partner and brother, Petros Tsitsipas. The number one seed will now play his men’s singles first-round match today, against Germany’s Dominik Koepfer.

Fans will be hoping to see the World No.4 get back on his feet and start winning matches soon. He has definitely been through a lot, but athletes are always looking for comebacks, and the Hamburg Open will be the perfect opportunity for the Greek star to do so.
