Eamonn Holmes left Ruth Langsford red-faced on today’s This Morning when he ambushed her about a ‘phantom sprinkler’ spraying urine on their toilet seat at home.

The presenting couple, who have recently begun their seven-week summer hosting duties on the ITV daytime programme while Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby take their annual break, divulged details of their toilet nightmares after a holiday park asked customers to help clean bathrooms due to a shortage of staff.

‘I find it hard cleaning our loo at home,’ Eamonn said before dropping the overshare.

‘There’s some phantom sprinkler, I don’t know what’s going on,’ he continued.

‘It’s not me!’ Ruth insisted.

‘It must be tradespeople,’ Eamonn replied as he hazarded a guess.

‘You’re the only one with the sprinkler,’ Ruth hit back, wagging her finger.

Well, she’s got a point.

Earlier this week, Eamon and Ruth shared their joy at being properly reunited with their elderly mothers following the strict coronavirus lockdown measures.

They had both been separated from their beloved mums Josie, 92, and Joan, 88, due to UK quarantine restrictions.

Ruth, whose mother Joan lives in a care home, recalled her mum’s first visit back to the family home, where she said she had a sherry and a dance peeling vegetables.

Talking to the Daily Mirror, Ruth shared: ‘Both of our mums are elderly now and these are their twilight years and you want to make them as special as you can and see them as much as you can.’

Eamonn added: ‘I think a lot of people felt that frustration. So to meet up with loved ones is everything.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
