Olivia Rodrigo’s visit to the White House was a meme goldmine

In between saving music and soundtracking our repressed teenage angst, Olivia Rodrigo headed to Washington to spread the important message to youths to get vaccinated.
But even the most noble of missions can be memeified, because, you know, the internet.
Olivia, 18, spoke to the White House press corps ahead of meeting with President Joe Biden and Dr Anthony Fauci to help the US vaccination drive, by encouraging younger people to get their jabs.
The Good 4 U singer said: ‘I am beyond honoured and humbled to be here today to help spread the message about the importance of youth vaccination.
‘I’m in awe of the work President Biden and Dr. Fauci have done and was happy to help lend my support to this important initiative. It’s important to have conversations with friends and family members encouraging all communities to get vaccinated, and actually get to a vaccination site, which you can do more easily than ever before, given how many sites we have and how easy it is to find them at vaccines.gov.’
But aside from the important message, Olivia’s appearance behind the briefing room podium gave the internet plenty of meme inspiration.
For instance, what could the new press secretary be announcing?
Then, a picture taken of Olivia passing the actual White House press secretary Jen Psaki gave us major Regina George passing Cady Heron outside the principal’s office in Mean Girls vibes.
After her press briefing, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star met President Biden and Dr Fauci, and later took selfies with the president.
Many reckoned Biden’s similarities to an older Steve Rogers in the Avengers movies meant that the shots looked like an MCU spin-off…
… while others were just happy a super-fan got to meet Olivia.
Twitter also noted that Olivia’s entire trip to the White House looked like a standard teen movie from the mid-noughties, particularly due to the star’s outfit of a plaid mini-skirt and platform heels.
Not gonna lie, this is a film we would absolutely stream.
Memes aside, Olivia was commended for encouraging young people to get their Covid-19 vaccinations, with youth vaccination rates in the US lagging behind the general population.
The Disney actress and singer currently has the number one album in the States with her debut album Sour, and the number two single with Good 4 U, which was previously in the top spot.

The teenager has rocketed to worldwide fame since the success of her debut solo single Drivers License at the beginning of the year.
The ballad is rumoured to be about her HSMTMTS co-star Joshua Bassett, who she is believed to have broken up from last year.
