“Don’t Come to No More Matches”: Cordae Explains His Feeling on Attending Girlfriend Naomi Osaka’s Match the First Time

Tennis ace Naomi Osaka has had a season of mixed emotions this year. After riding on the success of her performance in Australia, the Japanese star released a statement that she wouldn’t be attending press conferences due to her battle with mental illness. 

However, now that episode has been put aside, Naomi Osaka will feature at the Tokyo Olympics 2020. In a recent development, the four-time Major holder has a documentary of herself released on Netflix. In the first episode, there is an interesting revelation of her boyfriend and rapper Cordae, when he was nervous about attending his girlfriend’s match the first time.

He amusingly assumed if she lost, the crowd would not want him to attend any of her further matches. In the clip, Cordae stated, “I’m not superstitious at all. I feel in sports, everybody’s superstitious. That’s why I was like, Yo, she gotta win today.” This is the first time I’m attending the match because if she loses I was like, Everybody gonna look at me, don’t come to no more matches.” 

Naomi Osaka had a fantastic start to the season

Reflecting on tennis, Osaka began competing in Melbourne and won her second Grand Slam title at the venue. In doing so, she lifted her fourth Grand Slam title of her career. After that, she was seen on the hardcourts of Miami but wasn’t able to go all the way, winning the title.

The French Open was a disappointment for various reasons such as the battle with mental depression, along with receiving negative comments from the tennis universe for her decision to boycott press conferences. Nonetheless, her focus at the moment is to represent Japan at the Olympic Games. We wish her all the best for the remainder of the season.
