George Russell Explains How His ‘Goals Drastically Changed’ When He Reached F1
George Russell entered Formula One back in 2019 coming off as the F2 World champion the previous season. However, when the young Brit stepped into the pinnacle of motorsport, his objectives changed.
The 23-year-old stated that in his younger days, winning in Formula One was the main goal, whether you performed extremely well or had a horrendous weekend. But Russell’s perspective soon changed when soon featured on the F1 grid.
Russell states he had to rethink his goals when first entered Formula One
Being asked in the press conference by RaceFans, of what changed for him when he first entered the scene. Russell replied, “It was very clear growing up, from when I was eight years old until I got to Formula 1, the goal was to win.”

“[Whether] you had a successful weekend was based on if you put it on pole and then won the races or not. Then suddenly in F1, those goals drastically changed,” Russell concluded.

Can George perform at his home race?
The Williams’ drive is ready for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone– his home race. The young Brit is hoping to put on a good show in front of his home crowd, but more importantly, score some much-needed points for the Grove-based team.

Russell is certainly looking forward to the sprint qualifying session that is set to place on Saturday. He knows he can bring out the best of the Williams’ car as he did in the previous venues, as the most notable was his Q3 appearance in Austria two weeks ago.
