Another Married at First Sight couple bites the dust as Eric Lake and Virginia Coombs are getting a divorce.

The duo appeared on season 12 of the Lifetime hit series and tied the knot on August 31, 2020.

However, the pair have been living apart since April according to court documents filed in June – as seen by US Weekly.

On Thursday, the estranged couple told E! News that they have been ‘together and trying to make our marriage work since Decision Day.’

The pair then added: ‘While we have decided to get a divorce, we aren’t closing the doors on a possible future together.’

Throughout the season, the couple struggled with Erik’s jealousy about Virginia’s party lifestyle.

During the May reunion, things seemed to be in a better place as they shared that she still lived in his condo with her dog – despite that also being an issue in the relationship.

However, Erik, 35, and Virginia, 26, had been absent from each other’s social media accounts, which had caused some fans to speculate about a possible split.

The couple are the second pair from season 12 to get divorced this year, after Ryan Oubre and Clara Berghaus announced their split on July 12.

Married at First Sight season 13 premieres on Lifetime on July 21 in the US.
