The God of Mischief has answered our prayers, as Tom Hiddleston revealed that he would willingly continue playing Loki for the rest of his life.

Earlier this week, the episode 6 finale of Loki dropped on Disney Plus, spelling disaster for the rest of the MCU as the timeline was dropped into chaos.

Throughout the series, fans were introduced to several different versions of Loki – Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino), Classic Loki (Richard E Grant), Kid Loki (Jack Veal), Boastful Loki (DeObia Oparei)… and of course, not forgetting Alligator Loki.

Tom has been a fan favourite since he first played the character in the first Thor film 2011 – and it looks like he has no plans to hang up his horned helmet quite yet.

During a recent Tumblr Q&A, the Crimson Peak actor was asked if he would play Loki for the rest of his life if he were asked.

The 40-year-old answered with no hesitation, responding: ‘Yeah, absolutely.’

‘I’m so lucky that I’ve got to play Loki for this long,’ he elaborated.

‘And you know, I feel like he’s such an interesting character who’s been around in human consciousness for so long and he’s got so many different aspects, so many different complex characteristics, that it feels like every time I play him, I find out something new or we get to evolve him or take him down an avenue that we haven’t gone down before.’

Tom noted that Loki has ‘been around for a while’, adding that he thinks ‘he’s going to be around for a lot longer.’ That sounds very promising.

‘Meanwhile I’ll just hold on for as long as people want me to hold on for,’ Tom said.

In that case, Tom may indeed end up playing Loki into old age, as there’s no way Marvel fans are going to want him to bow out as the God of Mischief anytime soon.

If Tom does keep on playing Loki for years to come, then perhaps that means we’ll end up seeing the actor depict the Asgardian at different stages of his life, from adulthood to old age.

After watching the several different variants of Loki cross paths in the Marvel show, who knew things could get even more meta.

At the very end of the Loki finale, a post-credits scene confirmed that the series will be returning for season two, much to the excitement of fans.

Loki is the first MCU show to officially announce a second season, with it being suspected that a potential second season of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will instead play out in Captain America 4.

WandaVision, on the other hand, is believed to have been a one-off limited series, with Elizabeth Olsen set to reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Season one of Loki is available to watch on Disney Plus.
