“Always A Different Feeling”: Andrey Rublev Describes The Feeling Behind Representing His Country Ahead Of Tokyo Olympics 2020
The summer of 2021 in England was a difficult one for many but, as is always the case, a success for a few. Andrey Rublev comes under the former group and will be looking to have a successful Olympic campaign in Tokyo, an event he believes can unite the world.
Rublev did not have a smooth summer at the Wimbledon Championships, as he crashed out in the round of 16 stage. He was the number five seed at SW19 but failed to live up to the expectations.

Andrey Rublev looks forward to representing Russia at the Olympics
It is always a moment of pride for an athlete to represent their country at the Olympics. The Olympic Games is the biggest stage in the world for an athlete to showcase their talents. Another reason the event is a special one for Rublev is the fact that it’ll count as the Russian’s first taste of the Olympic Games.
“When you play tennis matches for your country, it is always a different feeling, it’s always a special feeling. Here you are not only playing for yourself, you are playing for your team, your country and it’s always filled with a more special feeling. I mean it’s different, it’s tough to compare singles and when you are playing for your country. Both feelings are really nice, but both are different,” said Rublev in an interview with the ITF.
The World No.7 will be hoping for a podium finish at the Olympics, after winning the ATP Cup with Russia in 2021.

Looking forward to a good time in Tokyo
Japan is one of the most hospitable countries in the world, as many would suggest. The Russian has heard good things about the country and will be hoping for a wonderful time. Athletes all over the world have always had a good time in Japan.
“For sure it is going to be amazing. I never heard a single person say that he didn’t like it in Japan. Every person that I know has visited Japan, was in love with the place, so for sure it will be amazing,” said Rublev.

The Russian contingent is always winning medals at the Olympic Games, as they have had some great athletes. The country has stood fourth in the last two Olympic Games’ medal tally while achieving third place at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
