‘Getting in My Zone’ – Allyson Felix Reveals How Beyonce Helps Her in Training

The daily routine of the soon-to-be five-time Olympian, Allyson Felix, is strict and consistent. She has won nine Olympic medals, and that is because of her training and skill. To get her training started, Felix requires music and her playlist is often loaded with singers such as Beyonce and Lizzo.

Recently, Felix gave a rundown of her daily routine. She starts her training at 9 am with her warm-up. This includes stretching and jogging which require the input of music. Here Felix definitely uses music to get pumped up. Hence her playlist has a lot of music from Lizzo and Beyonce.

“When I’m warming up, I’m definitely listening to music. That’s like, when I’m getting in my zone, I’m getting kind of pumped up. I listened to a lot of Lizzo, Beyonce, and all this typically takes about an hour,” Felix said.

Felix had earlier also placed the importance on why she listens to Beyonce especially. A few years back, Felix revealed that she listened to Beyonce’s Diva, and it helped bring the best out of her. “For me, it’s very specific. I have to listen to Beyoncé, ‘I’m a Diva.’ I have to get that alter ego on. I have to go to that different place. I’m a really laid-back person, but when it comes to the track, gotta switch it on.” Felix said.

Felix even once posed for a photoshoot as Beyonce from the singer’s 2003 album, ‘Dangerously in Love’. “I don’t consider myself a diva at all, but the song has a bit of an attitude and I inherit that when I step on the track. I think about winning and not really caring about anyone else’s feelings and just caring about myself in that moment,” she had said.

Now Felix is participating in 400m and 400m relay in Tokyo. Tokyo Olympics 2020 looks likely to be her last Olympics as she indicated her desire to retire before Paris 2024. Will she win more medals and become the most decorated female sprinter in history?
