There is controversy surrounding the British Grand Prix, as Lewis Hamilton won the race, but not before having an incident with arch-rival, Max Verstappen, which saw him out of the race. Hence, it’s no surprise that Team Principal, Christian Horner is furious with the Brit.

Horner was visibly upset after the race at Silverstone, as not only Verstappen was out of the race, but they also failed to bag maximum points. The team boss had a few sarcastic comments about the Mercedes driver labeling him an eight-time world champion.

Horner calls Hamilton a world champion after controversy at Silverstone

Horner wasn’t able to keep his cool, as he was asked for his thoughts on how the race panned out. He certainly didn’t hold back and had a strong choice of words as he attacked Hamilton for his driving style.

He said, “It shouldn’t be like that, to be honest with you. Max has incurred a 51G accident Lewis Hamilton is an eight-time world champion. He shouldn’t be making maneuvers like that. It’s unacceptable, thank goodness the biggest result for us today was that he was uninjured.

He is having to go to the hospital for precautionary checks after a 51G accident. So I hope Lewis is very happy with himself,” Horner concluded.

Will this hurt Verstappen’s title hopes?

The Red Bull prodigy was hoping to capitalize on getting a victory as he started from pole position. However, those dreams were snatched away by Hamilton as they came together in the openings laps of the race.

This left the Dutch driver in tirewall, while Hamilton continuing the chase and brought a win for Mercedes at his home race. Furthermore, the Knight also bagged twenty-five points which see him close the gap to the Red Bull driver.

However, Verstappen still has the lead in the championship but just by eight points. He knows will have to bring his A-game and be more cautious as he battles Hamilton for the 2021 title.
