Kofi Kingston Reveals How MVP Has Helped Him Immensely in His Journey to be WWE Champion

The WWE Championship feud between Bobby Lashley and Kofi Kingston has picked up some considerable steam in recent weeks. To be particular, Kofi and MVP’s promo three weeks ago on Raw really got fans talking. Both men had some excellent back and forth, and it shows how well they work together.

While Kofi Kingston and MVP may be on the opposite sides of the table for now, but the two share an immensely close bond. We all have seen the clip of MVP crying tears of joy alongside Shad Gaspard when Kofi won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 35 in New York.

Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston talks about his relationship with MVP

During a recent interview with BT Sports, Kofi Kingston shared how he met MVP for the first time. Kingston detailed that he moved from Boston to Atlanta when he got signed to WWE in 2006.

After reaching Atlanta, he immediately called up Bill DeMott, trainer of Deep South Wrestling and asked if could come over. DeMott obliged, and Kingston left for the developmental territory.

Kingston details immediately as he entered the facility, he saw MVP. The best part was ‘Mr. 305’ had recently made his debut on WWE TV and was working out at DSW. Kofi and MVP instantly clicked and the two became friends. In fact, Kofi says MVP is more of a big brother to him.

Speaking further about him, he said, “When I got up on the road, always gave me a piece of advice. Always looked out for me. We’ve had several deep intellectual conversations, so obviously when he left the company and he came back, I was ecstatic to see him.”

Talking about his current rivalry with Bobby Lashley and MVP, Kofi said everything between him and MVP is real. He added that it’s an awesome thing when people get to see real-life situations unfold on television. Kofi said, “What you see happening between he and I is a very real. Like, philosophies are different.”

Kofi said that although MVP mentored and looked out for him in the early years of his career, he doesn’t have the same ideal and philosophies as him. “It’s weird, but I think it’s great for people to see real, genuine emotion unfolding before their eyes.” he concluded.

There’s no doubt this rivalry between Kofi Kingston and MVP is one of the best things going today. Let’s see what happens when Kofi squares off with Lashley for the WWE Championship at Money in the Bank.
