Tokyo Olympics 2020 Men’s Singles Seeds: Novak Djokovic Leads the Field Filled With Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Others

World number one Novak Djokovic, who is in a league of his own after dominating every single one of his opponents this year, is looking to win his third big title at the Tokyo Olympics.

The league of players who are going to play tennis at the Tokyo Olympics next week has considerably reduced with the likes of Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, and Dominic Thiem, etc., have decided to withdraw owing to several reasons.

Still, the men’s singles draw in Tokyo has a lot of exciting talent who can produce top-notch tennis to make the event competitive.

Novak Djokovic is the top seed at Tokyo Olympics 2020

Ahead of the event, the men’s singles seeds were announced. As anticipated, Novak Djokovic takes the top seed. The Serbian, who is on a roll with back-to-back grand slam titles in two months, is looking forward to get his hands on the first gold medal in Olympics.

Also, the possibility of achieving a golden slam is intriguing for the Serb. Despite some tough competition, Djokovic looks currently invincible.

Russian tennis star Daniil Medvedev follows Djokovic and was the second seed. Medvedev, who couldn’t perform to his expectations at Wimbledon will be looking for redemption at Tokyo.

Post Olympics, the world number two will have a lot of points to defend and is at a high risk of losing the number two spot to Rafael Nadal.

On account of the Spaniard’s withdrawal, Stefanos Tsitsipas takes the third seed. After an incredible clay-court season, the Greek had back-to-back setbacks at Wimbledon and at the recently concluded Hamburg Open.

Tsitsipas‘ defeat at the French Open final from being two sets to love up against Djokovic might have had an impact over his recent performances. Despite his run, the Greek is always a threat and has the ability to make it big at the Olympics.

Germany’s leading tennis star Alexander Zverev is the fourth seed in Tokyo. Zverev has been a consistent player in grand slams and made the second week at majors since US Open last year.

But, the German didn’t register a single top-10 victory at slams which will be a cause of concern for him at the Tokyo Olympics.

Even though Novak Djokovic sounds the clear favorite on-paper for the Tokyo Olympics, he will have stiff competition from a lot of youngsters this time.

The Summer Olympics is another chance for next-gen to try and stop the Serbian force one more time at a big event.
