Love Island viewers shocked as N****s In Paris song is used amid Danny Bibby racism row: ‘Massive disrespect’

Love Island has come under fire after opening last night’s episode with the song, N****s In Paris, just days after Danny Bibby was involved in a racism scandal.
Danny, who entered the villa as a bombshell last week, was found to have used the N-word in a social media post from 2019. He then released a statement apologising for his language and was allowed to remain in the villa despite calls for him to be removed over the controversy.
At the beginning of Sunday night’s dramatic episode, a short recap of the previous episode was soundtracked by Kanye West and Jay Z’s hit 2011 single N****s In Paris.
However, many viewers found the song choice insensitive given the scandal surrounding Danny’s use of the N-word and particularly as he featured quite heavily during the rest of the episode after becoming embroiled in a love triangle with Lucinda Strafford and Aaron Francis.
Reacting to the song, one viewer tweeted: ‘The opening song for tonight’s #LoveIsland is N****S IN PARIS after everything that’s happened with Danny? In the MIDDLE of BLM?’
Another noted: ‘How ironic that @LoveIsland choose to use the song “N****s in Paris” for that Danny boys intro that was a massive disrespect to all of us! Just wow.’
‘Really Love Island? Out of all the songs you choose N…. in Paris?? Who is responsible for this?!’ one viewer demanded to know.

One other viewer said: ‘You lot told @LoveIsland to drop Danny for using the N-word and they made the opening song N****s In Paris.’
‘How are they opening the show with “N****z in Paris” knowing that the newcomer loves to throw the N word willing nilly????’ another weighed in.
Other offended viewers revealed they had complained to Ofcom about the song choice and urged others to do the same.
Danny’s past tweet was originally posted in November 2019 but is now deleted.
It featured him responding to a friend, who was white, after they commented on a photo of him in Dubai.
The original comment read: ‘Champ’, with Danny replying: ‘My n***a.’
The plumber’s father Richard initially defended him and insisted Danny ‘doesn’t have a racist bone in body’ while stating there were ‘no racist intentions’ behind his use of the N-word.
Danny then issued his own apology while in the villa and said: ‘I’d like to take the time to apologise to anyone that may have taken offence to my inappropriate remark.
‘I never meant anything malicious by this comment at all. I am not a racist person and it’s unacceptable language and ignorant. I meant no offence and feel like I have really learnt from my mistakes and will never use that word again.

Former Love Island contestant Sherif Lanre criticised the dating series for removing him from the villa in 2019 for play fighting with Molly-Mae Hague but allowing Danny to keep his place.
