Britney Spears’ newly hired lawyer Mathew Rosengart has revealed his firm is working ‘expeditiously’ towards removing her father Jamie Spears from her controversial conservatorship.
The attorney was granted the ability to represent the Lucky singer last week and made the declaration on Monday after a highly-anticipated hearing in Britney’s battle against her ‘abusive’ conservatorship.
After the hearing was adjourned until next week, the lawyer made a statement to press outside the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles.
‘My firm and I are moving aggressively and expeditiously to file a petition to remove Jamie Spears unless he resigns first,’ Rosengart explained.
He also thanked 39-year-old Britney ‘for her courage and strength’ before he went on to thank her fans for their ‘overwhelming support.’
The lawyer’s comment prompted cheers from an onlooking group of her fans who were gathered outside chanting in support of the hitmaker and holding up ‘Free Britney’ signs.

Earlier this month, Britney had delivered tearful testimony during the hearing in Los Angeles, the second time she has addressed the court in a matter of weeks, in which she said she wanted her father charged with conservatorship abuse.
The Toxic singer has been battling to end her controversial conservatorship, which she has been under since 2008, with dad Jamie Spears in charge of her personal and financial matters.
In June, the Womanizer singer shocked the world when she shared shocking details of her conservatorship in court testimony, alleging she was not allowed to remove her IUD in a bid to start a family with boyfriend Sam Asghari.

She compared the order to ‘abuse’, and stated those in charge have ‘done a good job at exploiting’ her life.
In a New Yorker investigation, it was also reported that the night before the hearing Britney reported herself as a victim of conservatorship abuse.
