Following a brilliant qualifying session and F1 sprint, Sebastian Vettel endured a series of heartbreaks during the race at the British Grand Prix. However, that did not stop the German from showcasing his care for the environment.

Although most of the focus was on the race winner, Lewis Hamilton, the limelight gradually shifted onto his former rival, Vettel, who barely made an impact in the rather eventful race. How you might ask?

Well, following the chequered flag, the 4-time world champion marched his way onto the empty stands along with his crew to clear out the garbage left behind by the spectators. Consequently, a huge British crowd swarmed around the empty tiers to cherish the German playing a role in pursuing a clean environment.

Why Vettel chose to join the garbage collection drive

Speaking to Bild, Vettel opened up about why he chose to clean up the rubbish on the stands after the race at Silverstone.

“It is important that we all respect the environment and not rely on other people to clean up behind us. Together we can make a difference,” the Aston Martin driver said.

After collecting the rubbish, the German will apparently be heading to a waste incineration plant to create awareness around what happens to the garbage left behind. Furthermore, he is also keen on elaborating the world on how more waste can be avoided.

Aston Martin, too, shared an appreciation post for the world champion on social media. They wrote, “Sunday night at Silverstone. The British Grand Prix is ​​over, but for Seb, the race to save the planet never ends.”

Tough break for Sebastian Vettel at Silverstone

It was a weekend of hope for the Aston Martin driver; Vettel was on course to secure strong points for the team, having finished in the top 10 over both qualifying and sprint.

However, the race ended up being a horror show for the German. After a brilliant start to the race, Vettel was defending hard against Fernando Alonso and almost pulled off. But, in the end, Vettel ended up spinning near the old pit lane entry, which left him in P19.
