Love Island 2021: Hugo Hammond rejects AJ Bunker and suggests she couples up with Danny Bibby

Love Island 2021 star Hugo Hammond surprised the islanders and viewers alike as he rejected AJ Bunker on Tuesday’s show.

The 25-year-old took the decision to nip any romantic feelings in the bud, despite AJ putting her feelings out there over recent times.

Sitting down together during a 70s disco-themed party on the show, Hugo said he saw them as friends.

The pair had been getting close over recent days, with the 28-year-old being upfront about her attraction to him ever since the re-coupling following Sharon Gaffka’s exit.

Hugo, however, didn’t seem to be very interested in AJ, and told her as much on the show.

Not only that, but he also suggested that Danny Bibby could be a good fit for her.

‘At the beginning there was just something I couldn’t quite put my finger on… At the minute I just think that we’re better off as friends as this point,’ Hugo said.

‘I genuinely think that you and Danny could have something really great.’

Speaking afterwards, AJ said: ‘The fact that Hugo was really pushing me to go with Danny clarifies that he really wasn’t feeling it with me. I’m a little bit shocked, but at the same time if he’d liked me he would have made a little bit more of an effort.’

Danny has been interested in AJ ever since calling things off with Lucinda Strafford, which had caused drama over recent days.

After Hugo broke the news to Danny, she went to speak to Danny and the pair picked up where they’d left off.

Before long, the pair shared a kiss – have we just seen Love Island’s latest couple get together?
