Pete Doherty put on a live show for revellers in Newcastle on Monday evening as coronavirus restrictions were lifted across England.

The Libertines and Babyshambles star, 42, took to the stage in a light blue shirt and flat cap as he treated his fans to some of their favourite tracks.

It was one of the first shows after restrictions had been eased in England, allowing the crowd to enter the Riverside without restrictions.

Pete and his band made a rare appearance in the UK after he has been living a low-key life in France with his girlfriend Katia De Vidas.

He had recently been pictured in the seaside town of Étretat in northern France Katia and her dog Gladys.

Pete lives in Paris with Katia and, during the pandemic, they spent time in the Normandy region.

The couple met in 2016 when they formed the band Pete Doherty and the Puta Madres and are believed to have started dating the following year.

A far cry from his rock and roll lifestyle of yesteryear, Pete has been loving the slower pace of life according to sources.

An insider told The Sun in March: ‘While lockdown has been tough for so many people, Pete is honestly the happiest he’s ever been.

‘He used to live a fast-paced, hedonistic lifestyle. He was the epitome of rock and roll. But the relaxed pace of life suits him more.’

They added: ‘He still has a hand in music as that’s his number-one passion, of course, but going to France has allowed him to relax.

‘Over the last few months he has taken his foot off the pedal and has really been enjoying his downtime.’
