Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds was doing well at playing the long game before he finally cracked and begged his future bride Blake Lively to sleep with him.

Relating the story of his romance with the Gossip Girl star, Ryan — who used to be married to Scarlett Johansson — said they met on a movie set.

‘I met Blake on the darkest crease on the anus of the universe called Green Lantern,’ he explained.

‘We were friends and buddies and about a year-and-a-half later we went on a double-date — but we were dating separate people.’

Ryan finally admitted his desperation to Blake, 33, when they found themselves travelling to Boston.

‘We hung out and we always kind of kept in touch sort of casually and next thing you know, she was going to Boston,’ he said.

‘I was going to Boston and I said I’ll ride with you. We got on the train and we rode together. I was just begging her to sleep with me.’

It seems it was an enjoyable ride as, after the trip, Ryan says they both just ‘knew’ they were meant to be a couple. Calling their love affair a ‘fairy tale’, the 44-year-old told the Smartless podcast: ‘A week later, I was like, “We should buy a house together”. And we did.’

The happy pair — who are worth £73million thanks to their movie careers and the actor’s Aviation gin brand — went on to have three girls, James, six, Inez, four, and Betty, 21 months.

Ryan, who owns Welsh football club Wrexham, married 33-year-old Blake in 2012. He and ScarJo had divorced the same year after three years of marriage.

‘You’ve watched your mother, your grandmother, subjugate herself — even on stupid things.’

As for Rita, 30, she added another famous squeeze to her black book in May when she enjoyed a three-way smooch in Sydney with Thor: Love And Thunder director Taika Waititi and actress Tessa Thompson.
