Julia Bradbury braced herself for any skinny shamers lurking on her social media account as she blessed her followers with a bikini photo.

The Countryfile presenter joined the nation in basking in the heatwave this week and managed to find space on a beach – jealous – to relax and sunbathe.

In her latest Instagram post, Julia is seen lying on the sand wearing what appeared to be a blue halter neck bikini with a floral embellishment.

She wrote in the caption: ‘Hey Skinny shamers … Hope you’re enjoying the sunshine. My collar bones are still sticking out…& I ate chips!’

Hashtags included: ‘#skinnyshaming #sunshine #nohate.’

Julia’s followers showered her with supportive messages, including one comment which said: ‘A picture of positive and healthy life choices. Enjoy the sunshine.’

‘That is the right attitude,’ another praised.

One fan quipped: ‘Have fun in the sun Julia! It’s never too hot for chips.’

The 50-year-old was overwhelmed by the warm messages and followed up with a photo of herself wearing workout gear, alongside the caption: ‘Lots of positive feedback from my skinny shaming posts…so many people grateful that I’ve spoken out about how unacceptable it is to shame people online/via social media.

‘I’m old enough & experienced enough to handle this stuff but millions of people are suffering with #mentalhealth issues & eating disorders. We need to exercise kindness on here. I’m happy that I’ve been able to turn a negative into a positive. I just want to say.. you’re all beautiful 💛.

‘Don’t let small minded people get you down, and feel fine about exploiting social media – take all the good and none of the negative!’

The TV star also included a quote from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actor Deep Roy, which said: ‘Inspiration comes from within yourself. You have to be positive. When you’re positive, good things happen.’

One supporter replied: ‘You are an inspiring woman and one of the best t.v personalities around so keep on doing your thing.’
