In one of the best pieces of casting we’ve seen this year, Michaela Coel has reportedly joined Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever.
The I May Destroy You star is thought to be playing a part in the upcoming Marvel movie, which is due for release in 2022.
According to Variety, the 33-year-old actress has met up with director Ryan Coogler at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, where production began last month.
Coogler has returned to direct again after writing the screenplay, while most of the original film’s main stars, such as Lupita Nyong’o and Angela Bassett, are expected to reprise their roles.
Details about Michaela’s role are still firmly under wraps as shooting gets underway on the sequel to the hugely popular 2018 film.
Michaela is known for creating the acclaimed series I May Destroy You, as well as writing and starring in the E4 comedy Chewing Gum and her role in the Black Mirror episode USS Callister.

It comes after Marvel boss Kevin Feige admitted that it’s been an ‘emotional’ experience getting back to set without its lead star Chadwick Boseman.
Boseman, who played the titular character King T’Challa, died in August 2020 at the age of 43 after secretly battling colon cancer.

Addressing his absence from set, Marvel’s Feige told Variety at the Black Widow Global Fan Event in Los Angeles: ‘It’s clearly very emotional without Chad.

‘But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans. We’re going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud.’
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is set for release on July 8, 2022.
