WWE Confirms NXT TakeOver: 36 for August 22nd After SummerSlam!

The biggest party of the summer is just one month away and the excitement in the ring only keeps rising. After all, this year’s SummerSlam is said to be a huge gala, possibly even grander than WrestleMania! However, for the first time in WWE history, SummerSlam will precede NXT TakeOver. Namely, NXT TakeOver: 36.

Yes, you read it right! NXT fans won’t have to wait for long as TakeOver returns with its thirty-sixth installment! During this week’s edition of NXT, WWE announced the arrival of the next NXT TakeOver: 36 with a video package.

Surprisingly, the date announced is Sunday, 22nd August, 2021, a day after SummerSlam 2021!

Will Sin City host NXT TakeOver: 36 alongside SummerSlam?

Although WWE announced NXT TakeOver: 36 will take place on 22nd August, they did not reveal the location or ticketing details. However, if the usual trend of TakeOver following a big PPV in a major city resumes, then we could see it culminate from ‘Sin City,’ Las Vegas. After all, live fans are back in attendance!

While SummerSlam is taking place at the Allegiant Stadium, our guess is the T-Mobile Arena would be the home for TakeOver. There is still no official word on it, but that’s the most likely arena WWE would pick considering they’ve held shows there before.

Considering the hype and big matches for SummerSlam, NXT TakeOver: 36 will also not fall behind. There are some very gripping storylines ongoing in the black and gold brand. In fact, this TakeOver has a very strong potential to be one of the best TakeOvers of all time!

Looking at the current rivalries and storylines, we believe Karrion Kross versus Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship will headline the show. It’s an instant sold out given the fact this would Joe’s first match in almost two years!

Other matches on the card could be Cameron Grimes versus LA Knight, Roderick Strong versus Kushida, and Santos Escobar versus Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott. Now these are just early guesses of what we see on the card. At the end of the day, anything is possible in WWE and the card is always subject to change.
