The wrestling world in 2021 is truly a bizarre place – but Nick Gage and WWE legend Chavo Guerrero Jr. are all elite.

The duo made shock appearances at AEW Dynamite: Fyter Fest Night 2 on Wednesday night with very different debuts for two stars who seem to be a world apart.

For deathmatch king Gage, there was a roar from the crowd as he was introduced by MJF as Chris Jericho’s next opponent in the Labour of Jericho series with the former world champion trying to earn a match against his bitter rival.

To make things even tougher for the Painmaker, it’ll be a No Disqualification bout, which is a scary prospect when the GCW champ is involved.

Gage stepping out on national television for a global promotion with his pizza cutter in hand won’t have been on many people’s bingo cards for the year, but AEW delivered another genuine surprise.

To make things wilder, it also means within a few days, he will face both IMPACT Wrestling’s Matt Cardona and Jericho himself on two very different shows.

What?! Chavo Guerrero (@mexwarrior) is here and he’s the new executive consultant for @AndradeElIdolo.

There were more surprises on the night – not least Lance Archer defeating Jon Moxley in the Texas Deathmatch main event to capture the IWGP United States Title.

WWE legend Chavo Guerrero Jr. also made a surprising appearance as the new executive consultant for Andrade El Idolo.

It’s great to see the former Cruiserweight Champion back on TV like this, and he should be a good fit for Andrade as the Mexican star looks to be on a collision course with Death Triangle’s Pac, Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero M.

Elsewhere on the show, Jericho defeated Shawn Spears with some help from Sammy Guevara to stop Tully Blanchard from interfering, while Doc Gallows beat Frankie Kazarian.

Kenny Omega and Don Callis mocked the failed Elite Hunter, but ‘Hangman’ Page rushed down, with Dark Order making the save when the number’s game got too much.

Darby Allin defeated Wheeler Yuta, with the highlight being Sting and Orange Cassidy trading offence in the latter’s laid back style at ringside, while Freshly Squeezed later beat The Blade.

Meanwhile, Dr. Britt Baker DMD kept her AEW Women’s Title reign rolling with a win over Nyla Rose.
