Charlotte Dawson was overcome with emotion reacting to a heartbreaking documentary all about her late dad Les Dawson, watching the film with her five-month-old son.
Charlotte, who has appeared on reality shows including Ex On The Beach and Celebs Go Dating, is the daughter of comedian Les and Tracy Dawson, born in 1992.
A year later, Les, who was celebrated for his deadpan humour and starred on TV shows including The Les Dawson Show and Blankety Blank, died at the age of 62 from a heart attack.
On Wednesday evening, ITV aired a documentary called Les Dawson – Lost Tapes, which shone a light on previously unseen footage and clips from Les’ family life, including with his baby daughter Charlotte.
Charlotte, who gave birth to her first child, Noah Dawson Sarsfield, in February 2021 who she shares with her fiancé Matt Sarsfield, participated in the programme with her mother.
The make-up artist shared viewers’ reactions to the documentary on her Instagram Story, in addition to a tearful selfie, alongside the caption: ‘Wow that was so hard to watch. Breaks my heart.’

During one part of the documentary, Les stated: ‘No matter how bad things are, look in the mirror and pull a face. Funnily enough, there is elegance and fun in everything. You’ve got to know failure before you know success.’
Charlotte shared the clip from the film on her Instagram Story, writing: ‘You’ve got to know failure before you know success – you’re so right Dad. I just love your face.’
Before tuning in to watch the documentary, Charlotte posted a video of herself speaking to her son Noah, who was born just before what would have been Les’ 90th birthday.
‘Just about to watch Granddad Les, aren’t we?’ she says.
In the programme, it was revealed that Les commissioned private home videos of him and his family that haven’t previously been released.
Les, who soared to fame in the 1970s and 1980s, made his last TV appearance on Surprise Surprise with Cilla Black.
