NASCAR Cup Series Teams to Expect Next Gen Chassis’ By the End of the Week

All throughout the past couple of years, NASCAR has been hard at work on the Next Gen cars. Now, the latest reports suggest that the sport is expecting the Next Gen chassis’ to be delivered to the Cup teams soon. This comes on the back of a data review from a June 30 crash test at the Talladega Superspeedway.

Evidently, NASCAR was happy with the results from the test. So, they have green-lit the process of building and delivering the Next Gen car. Obviously, the drivers will be keen to drive the car specs that will debut next season.

According to the officials, the Next Gen car’s crash testing had a “good and comparable performance.” As per their assessment, the results were much better than the crashes involving non-Next Gen cars.

What lies ahead for the NASCAR Cup Series drivers?

For the moment, everyone is focusing on the 2021 Cup Series season, especially with the Playoffs so close. Luckily for the teams, they get a two-week respite after the crazy New Hampshire Cup race. From there, the Cup teams will be back in action on August 8 to race at Watkins Glen International.

However, the season will soon become very hectic for the drivers. This is because they will have to face a stretch of 14 consecutive weekends of racing. This starts at Watkins Glen and covers Indianapolis, Michigan, and Daytona, which ends the regular season. The Playoffs then kick off at Darlington, followed by Richmond and Bristol.

Next up is the Round of 12, which consists of races at Las Vegas, Talladega, and Charlotte. Texas, Kansas, and Martinsville play host to the Round of 8, with the Phoenix Raceway serving as the season finale. One thing is for sure, the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season has been one of the most hotly contested so far.
