Rafael dos Anjos Claims Islam Makhachev Has Accepted to Fight Him in a 5 Round Main Event

UFC lightweight Rafael dos Anjos took to social media and decided to troll UFC fans. ‘RDA’ who has been vying to avenge his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov may get an opportunity to fight ‘The Eagle’ once more, or so he’d like to many fans to believe.

Dos Anjos revealed that he was in conversation with the UFC and had found a way to make the rematch happen. However, this statement has been taken to have been made in jest.

Rafael dos Anjos said that the UFC was trying to put together a bout against Islam Makhachev in October. In order to troll Makhachev and his entire camp, ‘RDA’ suggested that he’ll get a chance to face Nurmagomedov when it’s all said and done. Taking on Makhachev and then Khabib once more has been on Rafael dos Anjos’ radar for a while now.

I just heard back from the UFC that Islam accepted to fight me Oct 30 5 rounds in Abu Dhabi and Khabib agreed to come out of retirement to avenge his brother’s loss after that.

There’s no denying that ‘RDA’ possibly bringing ‘The Eagle’ out of retirement would send a shockwave through the community. Despite Nurmagomedov stating that he’s done, there’s always an appetite to see more. Dos Anjos is a tried and tested warrior and fans would have loved to see him welcome the Russian mauler back.

Rafael dos Anjos: Making waves

The 43-fight veteran in dos Anjos is coming off a win against Paul Felder that helped him get back on track. He’s moved back down to lightweight after a semi-successful stint at 170-pounds. While he managed to get some notable wins at welterweight, he was outgunned by the elite fighters of the division.

Rafael dos Anjos fought Khabib Nurmagomedov all the way back in April 2014 and he was thoroughly dominated. He lost a UD and has always maintained that it was a fight he wanted to run back. As it stands, Islam Makhachev is the only man who is currently active in the lightweight division to ties with Nurmagomedov.

Over the years, ‘RDA’ has accomplished many great things in his career, however, bringing Nurmagomedov out of retirement would top the charts. ‘The Eagle’ is one of the biggest names in the sport and he has an entire nation rallying behind him. Even the thought of him making the walk to the octagon one more time is enough to entice fans.
