Introducing the latest celebs ready to take part in our ‘ultimutt’ adventure… Love Island’s Olivia and Alex Bowen

We’re very excited to announce that Olivia and Alex Bowen will be joining us on our fundraising walk for Medical Detection Dogs (Picture: supplied)

Yes, we have Love Island royalty joining us on our amazing – or should we say, pawsome – charity fundraiser this October.

As part of our Metro.co.uk Lifeline campaign, Olivia and Alex, who own two gorgeous French Bulldogs Winnie and Reggie, will be heading to Oxfordshire alongside fellow reality star, Pete Wicks, to take on our fundraising walk in aid of the brilliant charity Medical detection Dogs.

Olivia says, ‘We can’t wait to get our hiking boots on with the lovely Metro.co.uk readers and join the walk for this fantastic cause!’

As self-confessed animals lovers, the couple, who met on Love Island in 2016, couldn’t be more perfect for our campaign. Olivia has joked that she’s a ‘crazy dog lady’, while the couple even have a dedicated shower for their dogs.

And if you fancy joining them, there’s still time to sign up!

Taking place on Saturday 2 October, in the beautiful village of Goring in Oxfordshire, dog lovers can bring their pooch and family along for our 10k walk with Pete, Alex and Olivia.

For those who want to push themselves a little bit more – and really soak up the glorious countrsyide – there’s a 26-mile hike also on offer.

METRO.CO.UK LIFELINE NEEDS YOU!

Join us in Oxfordshire on Saturday 2 October 2021, for a fun and feel-good hiking adventure alongside celeb supporters and other Metro.co.uk readers, to help raise money for the life-saving charity Medical Detection Dogs.

With two distances to choose from – 10k and 48k – family, friends and dogs are more than welcome. We’ve got just 75 places up for grabs – so to make sure you don’t miss out sign up here today.

All you have to do is sign up and raise just £300 for the charity. This money will enable Medical Detection Dogs to to help carry on their lifesaving work, which involves training dogs to sniff out diseases such as Covid, cancer and Parkinsons, or look after owners with potentially deadly illnesses, alerting them when their life is at risk.

If that wasn’t enough – we’ll also have some goodies on offer for all our participants.

Fellow celeb walker Pete Wicks, who has Frenchies Eric and Peggy, says he’s doing the walk, ‘because what Medical Detection Dogs do is just unbelievable.

‘I hadn’t really heard of their work until a few years ago, but their skills are so incredible and literally blows my mind,’ he adds.

‘Knowing that these dogs can detect illnesses, like cancer, and even Covid now, I just don’t think enough people realise what they can do. So the more awareness and money we can raise for them, the better.’

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your hiking boots and sign up now…
