Lucifer star Tom Ellis has revealed a first look at the fantasy show’s upcoming final season, teasing a possible time-travelling adventure with a 1980s throwback.
Earlier this year, the stars of Lucifer, based on the DC Comics character from the The Sandman comic book series, filmed their final scenes for season 6.
While the hell-raising finale for season 5 part 2 only came out a few months ago, viewers already can’t wait to see what lies in store for Lucifer Morningstar (Tom), Chloe Decker (Lauren German) and Amenadiel (DB Woodside) when it returns.
To whet the appetites of his fans, Tom shared a behind-the-scenes look at the new season, featuring himself looking suave in character in a dapper suit leaning against a vehicle that looks like the Delorean from the 1980s classic Back To The Future.
Tom appeared to be standing in the town square where Marty McFly arrives when he’s sent back to the past in the film, including the retro cinema in the background.
Could this mean that Lucifer is going to dabble in some time-travel in the new series? It wouldn’t be the strangest thing that’s happened in the fantasy drama.
‘Good things are coming,’ the actor wrote in the caption, alongside hashtags including ‘#season6’ and ‘#behindthescenes’.
‘Ahhh so excited for S6!! Delorean?!!’ one person commented on the Instagram post
‘Going back to the future?’ someone else asked.
Another fan said that while they’re excited for the new season, they’re not looking forward to bidding the show farewell when it draws to a close.
‘I can’t wait for season 6 to come out, but it hurts my heart to know it’s the last time. I’m really not ready to say goodbye,’ they wrote.
It was recently revealed that the Lucifer showrunners were forced to change the ending they had planned after it was renewed for a sixth season.
As they had originally believed season five would mark the end of the story, they had to make significant changes to their story to continue on with the tale.

‘There’s a bunch of stuff we weren’t going to tell that now we can’t imagine not telling,’ Ildy Modrovich said.
‘We thought, when we got to the end of season five, we told all the story we wanted to tell. And it wasn’t until we got to the end of season five that we had the perspective to see the story that we could tell with season six.’
Lucifer is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.
