Pokimane slams Trainwrecks for his gambling Twitch streams – says he’s losing people money

Despite Trainwrecks’ defences of his gambling streams, Pokimane argues that due to sponsorships it’s not his money at risk.

When the Twitch community isn’t arguing about the validity of hot tub streams, it’s arguing about gambling streams. Unlike the former, however, gambling streams are not a new thing.

Gambling streams, where viewers essentially watch other people gamble, are very common on the platform, but are no less controversial since they ultimately encourage and promote gambling. And those who partake and promote them have been met with criticism from their peers.

For example, Tyler ‘Trainwrecks’ Niknam, who currently boasts 1.5 million followers on Twitch, has been called out by fellow streamer Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys, who has taken issue with how he defends his gambling streams.

Trainwrecks argues that, if anything, his streams demonstrate why you shouldn’t gamble since he doesn’t always win. But Pokimane argues that, since his gambling streams are sponsored, it’s not his money he’s losing.

‘He is convincing himself… that that’s true when in reality he has no data or evidence to back that up,’ she says during one of her own streams, ‘However, we do have evidence to the contrary, which is the fact that these companies are giving him money every single month, which means that his viewers are indeed losing money on these sites every single month.

‘So, as much as you want to say that the tactics you do and precautions you give prevent people from gambling, ultimately you are losing people money, and the proof is in the check you get every month.’

Trainwrecks is one of the more prominent gambling streamers out there and according to TwitchTracker, him just playing slots is one of his most popular types of streams. It attracts an average of 30,037 viewers per stream, almost double what his Among Us streams manage.

Pokimane isn’t the only one to call him out either. Another streamer, Hasan ‘HasanAbi’ Piker, has outright called him a ‘degenerate’ who is unironically addicted to gambling.
