“Unprecedented Frenzy Around Him”: Olympian Hails Novak Djokovic’s Humility After Meeting Him at Tokyo 2020

Novak Djokovic’s season so far is best described as incredible. With triumphant wins and back-to-back titles, the Serbian legend has been in the form of his life.

Each time he took to the court, the 34-year-old performed with a sense of youthful exuberance and showcased experience with class; hence, he has the titles to show for it.

However, taking a break from blowing minds on-court, he’s been winning hearts elsewhere. Despite having the world at his feet, the World No.1’s acts of generosity are an authentic example of what modern-day legends look like.

Currently in Japan for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Novak Djokovic has been making headlines, even before donning the court. From coaching junior tennis stars to greeting his fellow Olympians, the 20-time Grand Slam champion has put his humility on display once again.

Croatia’s Olympic representative Franec Kojic shares the wholesome moment he met the 6-time with Wimbledon champion. Not just him, but even Dartford Tennis star, Patrick Brady, shared his moment of mentorship with the Serbian ‘G.O.A.T’.

Documenting his daily happenings in and around the Olympic village, Franec Kojic shares his experience of meeting the legend up-close.

Ecstatically, an overjoyed Franec wrote, “There’s an unprecedented frenzy around him, and the man must have snapped five thousand photographs. I walked up to him and said, ‘Novak, please photo, this is why I qualified for the Games’, he smiled from ear to ear and said, ‘Of course he can.’”

In a similar instance, youngster Patrick Brady shares his magical moment of when he accidentally bumped into Novak. The two players met at the 2021 Wimbledon Championship, where the former Olympic gold medalist made Patrick his prodigy. Patrick said, “Novak was gracious enough to give me some pointers which was also an amazing experience.”

Speaking of the same, Patrick’s father, who is also his coach, hailed Novak Djokovic’s act of humility.“Novak was so good, he went into so much detail with all the things you need to do. I think he saw Pat was very passionate and he is obviously very passionate so when they got speaking in detail he was very inspiring,” he said.

Novak Djokovic’s quest for gold begins

All eyes will soon turn to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, as Novak once again begins his quest for a gold medal. In an already immensely decorated season, an Olympic silverware will fit just right in his bag of accolades.

Notably, the World No. 1 has seemed unstoppable, given his current form. However, Novak Djokovic’s history at the Olympic games has been one to forget. His only silverware was a bronze at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Novak has had a long season, coming on the back of three championship wins. Hence, a Calendar-Grand slam is the most talked about right now. However, the determined Serbian stays fully focused on one goal; to win an Olympic gold medal for his country.
