Ex-WWE star Chelsea Green ‘nervous’ about fiancé Matt Cardona’s deathmatch with Nick Gage

Chelsea Green is ‘nervous’ about Matt Cardona’s match with Nick Gage – but she insists her fiancé ‘knows what he’s getting himself into’.

The former WWE superstar – who recently appeared on both Ring of Honor and IMPACT Wrestling after getting released by the company in April – has weighed in about her man stepping into the ring for his first ever deathmatch at GCW Homecoming on Saturday night (July 24).

She exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘I will absolutely be watching! I can’t physically be there because I’ll be at a show in Texas, so I’m logging on and watching online.

‘I’m nervous for him of course but he’s a big boy, he knows what he’s getting himself into! Now let’s just hope he’s okay for our Disney trip after this match!’

The Disneyland trip is a big deal for the couple, particularly as Cardona told us he wants to beat Gage for the GCW Championship and take the gold with them on their early flight the next morning.

‘I have a 6 o’clock the next flight the morning to go to California for Disneyland. So that’s my main priority,’ he insisted. ‘To take that title to Disneyland.’

Chelsea’s own experience in the ring makes it ‘easier’ to watch her man in the ring, although she has admitted they both have their moments.

‘I think it makes it easier. It’s never easy to see the person you love hurt, no matter what. If I could show you all the messages Matt sent when I disappeared off TV during that qualifying match before Survivor Series,’ she said, before recalling another tense moment when her man sold a knee injury earlier this year for IMPACT Wrestling.

‘He was on Rebellion [in April] and I was watching, and with the knee things, I sit there and I get really nervous. You don’t know what’s what! It’s scary but I know that no matter what, we’re gonna be fine,’ she told us days after the event.

‘Unless he falls off a massive ladder or something like that, I know that he’s trained to do this and I’m trained to do this. So, we’re gonna be OK. A broken arm – OK, we’re fine. It’s six weeks, we’re fine!’

Immediately after Rebellion, Chelsea’s phone lit up and she had words with Matt afterwards to make sure he lets her know how he’s doing if she’s not at the building with him.

‘I was really nervous and I got a lot of texts too. That actually made me really worried, and I told him that,’ she added. ‘Like, “Jesus, when you come to the back you have to text me and tell me you’re OK, because I get really nervous here watching.” ‘
