Derrick Lewis is set to return to the UFC Octagon at UFC 265 as he takes on the undefeated Ciryl Gane with the interim UFC heavyweight championship on the line. Lewis knocked out Curtis Blaydes in a vicious manner in his last outing and subsequently tied the UFC record for the most knockouts in the company’s history.

Fans love to watch Lewis in action as his power puncj=hing ability is quite unmatched in the promotion. After defeating Curtis Blaydes in his most recent outing, ‘The Black Beast’ said, ‘I like them wrestlers’. Many have touted that wrestlers are kryptonites for the hard-hitting heavyweight. His loss against Daniel Cormier at UFC 230 was the main reason behind those claims. But, Lewis showed he has adjusted his game with time and came up with a highlight-reel finish against ‘Razor’.

Lewis has challenged for the title once before in his career. However, that attempt was unsuccessful as he was outclassed by Cormier. But, he has put on enough work to get himself back in the position to challenge for UFC gold again. He was expected to fight Francis Ngannou originally. However, timelines didn’t match between ‘The Predator‘ and the UFC.

Gane, on the other hand, is coming off a lopsided decision win against Volkov in his last fight. He has managed to establish himself as one of the top prospects of the heavyweight division of the UFC. So, a fight between him and Lewis will be a great spectacle for the fans. Also, the contest will certainly decide who is actually the no. 1 contender for the championship at the moment.
