The Tokyo Olympics 2020 have begun and are in taking place in full force. Day 1 of the tennis matches of men’s and women’s singles witnessed a lot of action. Day 2 tomorrow will witness many more superstars battle it out for Olympic glory. The focus will be on the women’s singles category, specifically with Ashleigh Barty getting her campaign started.

Ashleigh Barty vs Sara Sorribes Tormo

All eyes will be on Barty, as the number one seed goes out to seek glory in Tokyo. The World No.1 recently won the Wimbledon Championships and proved her dominance and worth. She is on her way towards seeking another title after being regarded as a favorite to win the gold.

In her way stands Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain, who has had a decent year so far. The Spaniard won the Guadalajara Open earlier in March. She can prove to be a strong competitor against Barty when they face each other tomorrow.

Naomi Osaka vs Zheng Saisai

The most anticipated match of the day will be between Naomi Osaka and Zheng Saisai. The rivalry is not very stiff in this case, as Osaka enjoys a 2-1 lead over her. However, Osaka’s comeback is what the fans and media will be awaiting.

Osaka is the crowd favorite in Tokyo, as she is playing in her homeland. Her withdrawal from the French Open and Wimbledon was a big talking point in the past two months. However, the tournament number two seed is determined to mark her comeback with a strong performance.

As far as Zheng is concerned, her 2021 singles run has not been at the highest level. She has a 6-12 win-loss record this year and zero titles to her name.
